Monovision Lasik

Most people start suffering from presbyopia between the age of forty and fifty. Presbyopia means the ability of the eye lens to focus decreases, making it harder to read things without holding them at a distance, making reading glasses or bifocal glasses necessary. This not the same as hyperopia, wich means you can't see things that are close to you well and is caused by the shape of the eye or the eye lens.
This condition can't be reversed, but it can be countered with monovision Lasik. This is a technique wich eliminates or reduces the need for reading glasses or bifocals. It can be done by either laser surgery or contact lenses, and works by correcting one eye for near vision and one for distance vision. Wich eye is corrected for wich condition depends on wich one is your dominant eye. The brain figures out wich eye to use in wich condition. People considering this should first try out special contact lenses to see what the effect is.
